George Sheppard was a protégé of Louis Bellson and Henry Adler. He also studied with Buddy Rich and Mickey Toperzer.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Programming and Performing from the University of Maryland.
George began freelancing in New York and Washington, D.C. in 1984 and has performed with such notable musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Bucky Pizzarelli, Maureen McGovern, Marvin Hamlisch, Keter Betts, Johnny Ameroso, and the Miss America/Miss USA USO tours.
George has endorsement contracts with Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, Remo Drums & Drum Heads, and Udu Drums.
George has established himself as an educator with a special emphasis on drumset and marching percussion.
